Glitter, Sticks and Paint for Big Kids is back by popular demand. Join local artist and musician Verity Ridout in creating a collaborative artwork using ink-blowing, finger-painting, glitter, and glue. Let loose, get messy, and rediscover the joy of creativity (coffee and cake included!). Find full workshop details and times in the official Festival programme. ![]() 🎶 Sessions All Weekend – Join the Music at Wessex Folk Festival!This year’s Wessex Folk Festival is bursting with brilliant sessions from start to finish — the perfect way to get involved, meet fellow musicians, and enjoy the spontaneous spirit of folk! 🎵 On Friday night, kick things off at the Sticks & Bones Marquee with a lively Tunes Session hosted by Chris(accordion) and Peter (fiddle/guitar), familiar faces from Portland’s Cove House Inn. Expect toe-tapping sets, occasional songs, and a warm welcome for all players — just name your tunes if you’re reading from music! 🎶 Also on Friday, Pete Metcalf hosts a fantastic session at the Sailors Return — a brilliant chance to share tunes, songs and good company in one of Weymouth’s favourite pubs. 🎤 On Saturday, the Open Mic Night in the Sticks & Bones Marquee returns with local legend Aaron Carter — a highlight of the weekend! Whether you sing, play, recite, or just want to listen, it’s always a welcoming and inspiring evening.🌟 And that’s just the start! All weekend long, you’ll find lively sessions popping up in festival favourites like the Kings Arms and Sailors Return. With his rich storytelling, sharp wit, and a catalogue of brilliantly observed original songs, Paul’s performances are both heartfelt and humorous. Expect tales of everyday life told with charm, warmth, and a twinkle in the eye — a Harbour Stage highlight not to be missed! ![]() 🎸 Bob Carter is a skilled fingerstyle guitarist with a love for all things acoustic. His instrumental set blends folk, blues, Latin, and more — with the occasional surprise! A veteran of the Dorset music scene (and once a founding member of The Tartan Amoebas), Bob’s playing is full of character, rhythm, and charm. 🎭 Drama & Jazz at Wessex Folk Festival!We’re excited to welcome the smooth sounds of the Star Jazz Band from Weymouth, bringing their laid-back swing and classic tunes to the Main Stage. Perfect for a sunny weekend groove!And don’t miss To Win the Day – A Folk Drama by Time & Tide, telling the powerful, untold story of the women of Tolpuddle.
