The Wessex Folk Festival are very pleased to announce the Young Folk Music Competition to Young Musicians is open and with the support of James Findlay who will be performing at this years Festival ( Shhh… It has just been announced in the Feb Newsletter!!)
James Findlay first came into the public eye after winning the 2010 BBC Young Folk award. James comes from a family of folk singers and his enthusiasm lies firmly within the English tradition. He is particularly passionate about songs from his home counties of Dorset and Somerset. James has an extensive repertoire and love for song. This really shows in his knowledge and understanding of the material. James accompanies himself with fiddle, guitar, melodeon and banjo

James has recorded and toured an album of ‘The New Penguin Book of English Folk Songs’ with Lucy Ward, Bella Hardy, Brian Peters and Jackie Oats.
He also worked with the British Council’s Folk Nations Project in India 2014. Fellside signed artist of three highly acclaimed albums – Another Day, Another Story nominated for ‘Best Folk Album 2013’ in the Spiral Earth Awards. Mojo Top Ten Folk Albums in 2012 with Sport & Play.
