We Are Weymouth supports Folk Festival

We Are Weymouth, the town’s Business Improvement District, is to give financial support to the Wessex Folk Festival again this year.

Dawn Rondeau, Chief Operations Officer for We Are Weymouth (BID), said: “We are thrilled to support this well-loved event which brings joy to locals and visitors alike and typically boosts the local economy at what is generally a quieter time of year. The Business Improvement District believe in supporting this event because it would not be able to grow without our financial support. It is great to see that the Festival is now returning to its pre-Covid status with many people highly anticipating this celebration of our British heritage.”

Festival Director Bob Ford said: “I am really pleased and excited that We Are Weymouth are supporting this year’s Wessex Folk Festival. We are grateful for their financial backing and the support they provide to local businesses and festivals like ours and look forward to an exciting, totally free folk festival.”

The Wessex Folk Festival takes place over the weekend of June 3 and 4 with music on two stages and morris dancing and street traders along the south side of Weymouth harbour. Merry Hell, Trials of Cato, Reg Meuross and Gaz Brookfield are among the musicians appearing. The festival is free to attend and relies on sponsorship, donations and payments from street traders for its income.
