Q: Where do I camp for the festival?
A: We don't have camping at our festival. There are some very good camp sites and hotels in Weymouth, available on the Internet.
Q. How good is your mobility access?
A: Weymouth Old Harbour and Hope Square are all fairly flat and have no steps. However, as they are mostly old buildings, some of the pubs and shops may have a couple of steps. Some have been able to provide ramps etc.
Q: Can I bring my dog to the festival?
A: Yes. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times. Some dogs may struggle with the very tightly packed crowds, with people trying to move through bottle-necks, to get past Morris Dancing at some points along the harbour. Small dogs may need to be picked up for their own safety. Large, calm dogs might be OK. Large, nevous dogs should avoid these areas. Please be aware that some acts may appear to the dog, to be making sudden very loud bangs, or using large sticks (eg. Morris dancing, drums etc.). Some establishments may provide a water bowl, but you might want to consider bringing water and a bowl. Obviously, please pick up after your dog.
Q: How do I apply to have a trade stall?
A: Please apply on the form on this link . The electronic form will come through to us as an email. Everything is done by email. There are no paper forms. Payment is done on this website via Paypal (you don't need a Paypal account). This happens later, once we have accepted your application. Please be aware that as we are very limited for space, we may not be able to accommodate you. Also, we cannot accommodate large gazebos and vans. Q: How do I apply to help out at the Festival?
A: If you are reading this question, we love you already! Please email us on [email protected] or use the contact us form. We will get back to you asap. Please be aware, that as this is a free festival, there is nothing we have that we can give to you in return for helping us. We do, however, provide a proper, structured system of support and organisation for our helpers and volunteers.
Q: How do I know what's going on at the festival?
A: As we book acts, Morris sides, pub sessions, workshops, etc., we list them on this website.
We list the days the acts are on, but not the exact times, as our admin facilities wouldn't be able to keep up with changes.
About a week before the festival, we launch the Programme. This is available as a PDF, which is emailed to you (individually by one of our committee members) or a hard copy, available from a couple of outlets in Weymouth, and of course at the Festival itself. There is a small fee for the programme (typically around £2).
Q: How can I advertise in the Programme?
A: Early in the year we launch a page on this website, where you can buy a space for your ad in the programme. You pay for this online via the Paypal portal (you don't need a Paypal account). We will then contact you with regard to your requirements. it is expected that you will supply the artwork in electronic form (Word, PDF, Jpeg, etc.). By advertising in the programme, you will get a free ad on this website, which has a hit-rate of around 25,000 each year. We can link your ad to your own website.
Q: Is Wessex Folk Festival a charity?
A: No. It is a non Profit Making Organisation. All monies collected from sponsorship, advertising, programme and badge sales, bucket collections, trade stall fees, etc. go towards putting on next year's festival. The Committee and Helpers give their time and skills voluntarily.
Q: How can I donate money to the festival?
