The Countrymen

This accomplished five-piece band is renowned for their tight four-part vocal harmonies, strong musicianship, and a full, uplifting sound that stays with you long after the last note. The Countrymen primarily perform original material alongside their own distinctive arrangements of lesser-known contemporary folk songs. Their writing draws deeply from life in Cornwall — reflecting on the changing rural landscape, the decline of traditional industries, and the everyday stories that resonate far beyond the South West. As seasoned performers, they bring more than just music to the stage. With warm, light-hearted banter and engaging back-stories behind their songs, they create a genuine connection with audiences — making every performance both entertaining and memorable.

The Portland Coves

The Portland Coves formed in 2017 out of the sessions held at the Cove House Inn on Portland. Ricardo (whistles), Ian (percussion) and Rick (stringy things) got together initially to play tunes different from the ‘standard’ repertoire; it rapidly evolved to gigging in local pubs, folk clubs and Festivals throughout the South West. Their first CD came out in 2019; the second is recorded and due next month. We are now looking at a range of tunes from the middle and far east, using instruments such as the taishogoto from Japan and the dombra from Kazakhstan as well a revisiting tunes from Dorset. Listen, dance or do both – we hope you will enjoy our music as much as we do!

James Findlay

James Findlay is a former winner of the BBC Young Folk Musician and is truly a great performer of Folk and he is local to the Weymouth area… so one of our own!!

Polly Morris

Performing laugh-out-loud funny songs, parody songs and also heartbreakingly poignant songs, Polly Morris is a whirlwind of entertainment. Her songs have clever lyrics and catchy melodies and with her eighth album of original songs just released, she is never short of something new to make you smile. Prepare to be engaged from start to finish, or as one audience member put it “Polly took me through every emotion I had – from tears to laughter!”
